Who we are
WhoIsTheRef is run by Kyle McGinn, who is responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). Contact: mcginnkyle5@gmail.com.
The short version
WhoIsTheRef has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising trackers and no analytics. We don't ask for, sell or share your personal information.
What is collected, and why
- Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel records technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Vercel may process this data in the United States under its own data protection terms. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (running a secure website).
- Fonts. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See Google's privacy policy. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (displaying the site properly).
- Your browser's storage. The site saves two small settings on your own device: that you confirmed you're 18 or over, and the competition you last viewed. They never leave your device, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings. These are strictly necessary for features you use, so no cookie consent is needed for them.
Cookies
WhoIsTheRef itself doesn't set cookies. If we ever add analytics, advertising or affiliate links that use cookies, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
How long data is kept
Hosting logs are kept by Vercel for a limited period under its own retention policy. We don't keep any other personal data.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how it's used, by emailing mcginnkyle5@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
WhoIsTheRef is for adults aged 18 and over and isn't directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
